Apple Co-Founder Steve Jobs Has Died

Apple co-founder and Chairman Steve Jobs died today, Apple said. He was 56.

"Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives," Apple said in a statement. "The world is immeasurably better because of Steve."

Jobs had been suffering from various health issues following the seventh anniversary of his surgery for a rare form of pancreatic cancer in August 2004. Apple announced in January that he would be taking an indeterminate medical leave of absence, with Jobs then stepping down from his role as CEO in late August.

Jobs had undergone a liver transplant in April 2009 during an earlier planned six-month leave of absence. He returned to work for a year and a half before his health forced him to take more time off. He told his employees in August, "I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come."

One of the most legendary businessmen in American history, Jobs turned three separate industries on their head in the 35 years he was involved in the technology industry.

Personal computing was invented with the launch of the Apple II in 1977. Legal digital music recordings were brought into the mainstream with the iPod and iTunes in the early 2000s, and mobile phones were never the same after the 2007 debut of the iPhone. Jobs played an instrumental role in the development of all three, and managed to find time to transform the art of computer-generated movie-making on the side.

The invention of the iPad in 2010, a touch-screen tablet computer his competitors flocked to reproduce, was the capstone of his career as a technologist. A conceptual hybrid of a touch-screen iPod and a slate computer, the 10-inch mobile device was Jobs' vision for a more personal computing device.

Jobs was considered brilliant yet brash. He valued elegance in design yet was almost never seen in public wearing anything but a black mock turtleneck, blue jeans, and a few days worth of stubble. A master salesman who considered himself an artist at heart, Jobs inspired both reverence and fear in those who worked for him and against him, and was adored by an army of loyal Apple customers who almost saw him as superhuman.

Jobs was born in San Francisco in 1955 to young parents who gave him up for adoption. Paul and Clara Jobs gave him his name, and moved out of the city in 1960 to the Santa Clara Valley, later to be known as Silicon Valley. Jobs grew up in Mountain View and Cupertino, where Apple's headquarters is located.

He attended Reed College in Oregon for a year but dropped out, although he sat in on some classes that interested him, such as calligraphy. After a brief stint at Atari working on video games, he spent time backpacking around India, furthering teenage experiments with psychedelic drugs and developing an interest in Buddhism, all of which would shape his work at Apple.

Back in California, Jobs' friend Steve Wozniak was learning the sk doubt that Apple was a serious player in the computer industry, but Jobs only had a little more than a year left at the company he founded when the Mac was released in January 1984.

Jobs returned to Apple in 1996, having convinced then-CEO Gil Amelio to adopt NeXTStep as the future of Apple's operating system development. Apple was in a shambles at the time, losing money, market share, and key employees.

By 1997, Jobs was once again in charge of Apple. He immediately brought buzz back to the company, which pared down and reacquired a penchant for showstoppers, such as the 1998 introduction of the iMac; perhaps the first "Stevenote." His presentation skills at events such as Macworld would become legendary examples of showmanship and star power in the tech industry.

Jobs also set the company on the path to becoming a consumer-electronics powerhouse, creating and improving products such as the iPod, iTunes, and later, the iPhone and iPad. Apple is the most valuable publicly-traded company in the world, surpassing ExxonMobil's market capitalization in August. He did so in his own fashion, imposing his ideas and beliefs on his employees and their products in ways that left many a career in tatters. Jobs enforced a culture of secrecy at Apple and was an extremely demanding leader, terrorizing Apple employees when he returned to the company in the late 1990s with summary firings if he didn't like the answers they gave when questioned.

Jobs was an intensely private person. That quality put him and Apple at odds with government regulators and stockholders who demanded to know details about his ongoing health problems and his prognosis as the leader and alter ego of his company. It spurred a 2009 SEC probe into whether Apple's board had made misleading statements about his health.

In the years before he fell ill in 2008, Jobs seemed to soften a bit, perhaps due to his bout with a rare form of pancreatic cancer in 2004.

In 2005, his remarks to Stanford graduates included this line: "Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything--all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure--these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important."

If we didn’t pester our boyfriends we would never get them out of their man cave and into a civilized restaurant. The whole “let’s meet back up in an hour” thing is not really okay with us, but we go along with it so we don’t have you sulking in the corner of Macy’s bringing down our department store high. We like to help you decide which pair of jeans makes your butt look better, and we’d also like your opinion on which dress will be better for New Year’s Eve. We will save you the pain and take our girlfriends the majority of the time, but every once in a while a little couples shopping would be appreciated. Yes, we think it’s cute and romantic, and, no, Best Buy does not count.

4. Don't be "That Guy" At the Bar

We love that you’re fun and up for anything. We love that we can go out with a group as a couple and do our own thing, not grossing everyone out with baby talk and severe PDA. But we don’t love that we catch a glimpse of you from across the bar downing Red Bull vodkas and having beer chugging contests. Is this a problem? No. But the belligerent-I-am-going-to-kick-every-guy’s-ass-in-this-bar attitude is. We want you to be able to walk us home and offer your jacket if we get cold on the trek back to campus, not take a piss in every bush we see and yell threats at guys passing who look at you the wrong way.

5. Be Generous in Bed

We love knowing that we can satisfy you sexually. But once in a while it would be really great to get some pleasure of our own without feeling like we have to return the favor. After a week full of classes and work, a little visit down under (or perhaps an extended stay…) would be amazing, especially if we can take a night off from our duties. Please and thank you.

6. Come Out of the Man Cave on Your Own Free Will

Begging you to put down the Xbox controller gets really old. We know you’ll never give up the video games, and we accept that four nights out of five we will wake up to the sound of you screaming to your virtual teammates through that headset. But if you decided to emerge from your pile of pizza boxes and beer cans without the nagging on our part, you will be rewarded handsomely.

Strawberry soda is a delicious sparkling drink filled with the freshness of strawberries. What's more, this drink is an ideal way to use up end-of-season strawberries that aren't at their best or strawberries that are a bit too ripe or mushy.

Ingredients :

1 cup of strawberries (if they're mushy or too ripe, that's fine; just avoid any moldy ones) – frozen strawberries can also be used
1/2 cup ginger ale or club soda
1 tablespoon sugar
ice cubes

1. Mash, blend or puree all of the strawberries until they are just a thick puree. Be sure there are no lumps as the aim is to create a smooth drink.

2. Pour the strawberry liquid into your tall glass. Mix to disperse the flavors. While mixing, add as much ginger ale or club soda and sugar as desired. This will make the drink fizzy and sweet; just be sure to taste it as you're adding so that you don't overdo the sweetness.

3. Pour ice cubes in the drink. Blend the drink again to pulse the ice cubes through the entire drink.

Place the blended strawberry drink in refrigerator. Allow it to infuse for at least 3 hours; this will ensure a strong and delicious flavor.

Prepare:

1 kg chicken, cut into 12 sections

4 tablespoons butter / margarine

100 g onions, cut into matchsticks

8 cloves garlic, mashed

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons lime juice / lime

1 tsp black pepper, crushed coarse

2 tsp fine salt

Oil for frying

How to Make:

1. Season the chicken pieces with pepper, salt, garlic and lime juice, stir well. Let stand for 20 minutes until flavors mingle. Heat the oil a lot, fry chicken until cooked through and golden browned. Remove and drain.

2. Heat the butter / margarine and saute onions until fragrant. Insert pieces of fried chicken. Pour the soy sauce, soy sauce and soy sauce english. Cook, stirring, stirring until flavors mingle. Lift.

You want to try eating lots of fresh vegetables and fruit as these will give you so much goodness for your skin and will help balance your diet. My problem was I loved junk food like chocolate and sweets so I slowly stopped eating them and now I can really see the difference and I would only treat my self once in a blue moon to one of these things, so it is possible to cut down on the things you love to eat but maybe bad for you. Also try to drink water instead of fizzy or juice drinks as they contain lots of sugar and caffeine and the benefits of drinking water it will quench your thirst, flush out toxins and you won’t put on unwanted weight.

2. Products

Next thing you can do to help tackle your oily skin is to look at the products your using on your face. Try to use products with a none oil based and go for the water based products. The products that I would advise using and that I can’t live with out is a face wash, cleanser, toner and moisturiser by Simple. Reason being is because the product are not expressive and they are easy on the skin. Some girls do think because they have oily skin that they shouldn’t moisturise or use any product on your skin because it would make it worse, wrong. If you leave your skin to do its natural thing, your skin will get more oily to compensate for the lack of moisture on your skin and also will build up the dirt. Cleansers are so important to use on your skin as it helps remove unwanted dirt, oil and dead skin to prevent a build up that can cause spots and toners are used to close your pores so that it reduces oil coming out and prevents dirt going into your pores.

3. Steaming Your Face

Why not try a steam facial as this will help clear your pores. First pour boiling water into a basin and add two drops per litre of lavender, lemon or sandalwood essential oil and a bunch of chopped mint or parsley. Cover your head with a towel and let the steam play over your skin for up to 10 minutes. Finish by splashing with cool water to close the pores and cleanse, tone and moisturise. Try not to wipe your face with a towel just go straight into cleansing routine as the towel may add dust or dirt into your pores causing spots.

Once finished try using a press powder or loose setting powder as this does what it says, it will set your makeup and help it last longer without too much shine. But crying a little, then saying, "I'm so sad about this, but if that's your decision, I have no choice but to accept it," is much more dignified than screaming, "No, don't leave me! 2. Gather your supporters. Now is the time you need your friends and family, more than ever. Call them and tell them you've broken up with your true love. 8. Let done be done. A lot of guys break up with girls, then want them back later. This may or may not be a good idea. If you do decide to try again, try one more time - don't try again after that. Going back together time after time may be a bad idea for a number of reasons:

10. Recognize that few people will respect you unless you insist. If you don't respect yourself, you're giving others the go-ahead to treat you like dirt. Don't you dare do that to yourself! Stand up and insist that you be treated with dignity, the way all human beings should be treated. Allowing a guy to walk all over you is the worst disrespect in the world.

As well, differences must be taken into account – no two people are alike or have the same interests, and while you will naturally seek commonalities to share, accommodating both differences and compatibilities is essential for long-lasting connection.

1. Know thyself.

Long stated by many people, this simple adage is essential for good relationship building. If you don't know your own needs, wants, preferences, and limits, you risk using relationships as a source of your own validation, which can easily lead to co-dependency, clingy behavior, aggressive possessiveness, manipulation, or other unhealthy reasons for wanting to be with others. Being single is not always a choice but it is important to make the most of it when we are in this situation and to continue to reach out to others as a friend and as a fellow human being rather than constantly seeming needy and lost. Learn to spend time with yourself in positive ways, seeing being alone as healthy rather than lonely, and as simply another spectrum of your complete self.

For those who come from broken-down family situations, there can be a deep yearning to recreate a family that "works". Believing in people and trusting them is not always easy. Certainly, there are people who will abuse your trust and won't live up to your belief in them. However, it is always far better to assume that others will do the right thing and that they will seek to live up to your belief in them than to view the world through fearful or angry lenses. By all means use your wits and common sense about what doesn't feel right when interacting with other people – you don't want to end up physically harmed or emotionally abused – but try to be a source of encouragement and enlightenment for other people in your life by giving them an indication that you do believe and trust in them above all. It is far harder for people to break trust and to let another person down when they are fully aware of that trust and belief and that to break it they must make active choices that bring about harm. In many situations where coercion is absent, assuming good faith about a fellow human being will bring you the reward of a much improved relationship, and could even result in a lifelong commitment to one another as friends or trusted partners.

7. Nurture your relationships.

Any living being and any living relationship needs nurturing to flourish; left alone, left untended, left uncared for, and the survival rate is not good. This means setting aside time, however brief, to spend with this person. In intimate relationships, the time needed together will be far greater than the time for a boss with an employee or a retailer with a customer, but in every single case, the time spent must be dedicated, focused, and of quality, in order to nurture the relationship. Give your full attention, show that you care and that you're interested, and be mentally and emotionally available when you spend time with another.

8. Be willing to take full responsibility for your own words and actions if you want your relationships to work.

After childhood, you are expected to be responsible for what you say and do; unfortunately, there are many adults unable to grasp this simple notion and who feel safer, for one reason or another, in placing blame for their own inadequacies and actions onto others. After a time, this causes relationships to falter because nobody wants to be at the receiving end of being blamed for things all the time, and it is both boring and exhausting to be around someone who constantly blames others but never takes personal responsibility. 9. Be ready to face difficulties and problems within your relationships as they come up.

Letting problems in a relationship fester is a recipe for fueling misunderstanding and anger, which can ultimately lead to a rupture in your relationship. Talk to one another openly about feelings, issues you have, and concerns about things you've heard or being told. Avoid prejudging by gossip but do seek to clear the air when someone you interact with seems to have said or done something that reverberates negatively on you.

10. Grow together.

Expecting someone to remain the same person they were 5, 10, or 20 years ago is both unrealistic and unfair. Do you want to be remembered as the same person you were 20 years ago, or have you grown and changed in that time? Good relationships make space for growth and both parties accept this growth in each other.
